The Oregon Zoo in Portland is a beloved and iconic landmark of the Pacific Northwest region. Located in the heart of Portland’s Washington Park and easily accessible by the MAX light rail line, it offers a variety of activities for visitors to enjoy year-round. With over 20 species of animals on exhibit, the zoo gives visitors an up-close look at some amazing wildlife, both ancient and modern. For those looking for an adventure, head over to Cascade Cove, where you can interact with seals, polar bears, otters, sea lions and other aquatic creatures. Step inside this underwater world to get up close and personal with these majestic swimmers. Or take a journey through Africa at African Rain-forest Adventure where you can see gorillas swinging from trees or catch glimpses of other exotic wildlife including chimpanzee peeking out of their nests. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to explore Discovery Trail which takes guests through seven different environments including wetland meadows filled with bird songs, open grasslands inhabited by bison and even dense forests filled with black bear dens. If you’re looking for something more relaxed take a ride on the Endangered Species Carousel filled with fourteen colorful endangered species figures or take part in a keeper Chat while learning about the animals that live at the zoo.

After you’ve worked up an appetite head over to food carts serving up tasty selections or stop by one of several cafes offering pizza and burgers among other dishes designed to satisfy your appetite after long day spent exploring! At night time don’t forget to check out Twilight Tuesdays when most areas stay open until 8pm so you can experience exciting nocturnal activities such as night hikes or attend special performances put on by zookeepers every Tuesday evening from April through October!
